Twenty-five active Sri Lankan SIYB Master Trainers convened in Moratuwa on April 4, 2025, for a 24-hour intensive session focused on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the design and delivery of SIYB and other SME management capacity-building activities. The program featured technical sessions led by internationally acclaimed ILO SIYB Master Trainer Developer, Mr. Gemunu Wijesena, Hon. Vice President of the SIYB Association of Sri Lanka. These sessions introduced the latest ILO SIYB products, including Digitalize Your Business and Green Business, alongside a practical AI workshop.
Mr. R. Rajeshkanna, Hon. President of the SIYB Association of Sri Lanka, commenced the day with a keynote address, commending the Master Trainers' dedication and emphasizing the importance of their close collaboration with the Association to achieve the ambitious goals of its Five-Year Strategic Plan.
Master Trainers from across Sri Lanka dedicated a full day to this two-part event: "Master Trainer Day," focused on technical content updates, and "Master Trainer Night," designed for networking and fellowship.
Evening discussions centered on planning Refresher Training of Trainers (RToT) seminars, scheduled for the third week of June across three regions. These seminars will update SIYB Trainers on the latest SIYB products and the necessity of adopting digital technologies to enhance the design and delivery of their activities for SME growth. The session also included planning for a Master Trainer communication and networking platform, where the operationalization of SIYB Provincial Chapters was discussed and provincial leaders were identified.
The day culminated in a Networking and Fellowship Dinner held at the Ramadia – Ran Mal Resort Hotel in Moratuwa.
